Comedian Brian Conley and his professional dance partner Amy Dowden have become the fourth couple to be eliminated on Strictly Come Dancing.

Performing the Jive, Conley and Dowden lost out in the results show dance-off to TV chef Simon Rimmer and his professional partner, Karen Clifton, who were dancing the Charleston. Both couples had scored 16 points on Saturday's show.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood and Darcey Bussell said deciding who to put through to next Saturday's show was very difficult, but both chose to save Rimmer and Clifton. Head Judge Shirley Ballas said she agreed with her colleagues' decision.

Reflecting on his time on the show, the gracious-in-defeat Conley said he had "loved everything about this".

"It's one of the greatest shows; it's a family show," he continued. "And you know what? There has been someone by my side all the way through this journey who has been just there every moment and that is... Aston! [Merrygold, fellow contestant] I love him and I am really going to miss him."

Conley then paid tribute to his dance partner and teacher Dowden.

"I love this lady and I want her to be on this show forever and ever because I want everyone out there to know how special this lady is because she is a star and I love her to bits," he said.

Dowden added: "I have had the most amazing time. I've got not just Brian but his entire family as friends for life and thank you from the bottom of my heart."

The remaining eleven couples will now compete on next weekend's Halloween Special, which airs on BBC One on Saturday at 6.35pm.
