John Dunsworth, the Canadian actor best known for his role as Jim Lahey in the cult comedy series Trailer Park Boys, has died at the age of 71.
Dunsworth's death was announced on Twitter by his daughter and Trailer Park Boys co-star Sarah. She said he had "left this world peacefully after a short and unexpected illness".

The Trailer Park Boys' official Twitter page said the cast of the series were "heartbroken" at the news of Dunsworth's passing.

Dunsworth first played the role of the hard-living Lahey in the 1998 short One Last Shot and went on to become an iconic character in the Trailer Park Boysmockumentary series and spin-off movies.
Dunsworth's final series of The Trailer Park Boys, season 12, is due to premiere on Netflix in the New Year.
