Casino Royale actress Eva Green has issued a statement to entertainment publication Variety, saying that there was an alleged incident with Harvey Weinstein which took place in Paris during a business meeting between 2010 and 2011.

She said that she had to push off the disgraced Hollywood producer.

She added that she had wanted to maintain her privacy but after hearing the stories other women have come forward with regarding Weinstein, wanted to speak out.

French actress Marlene Jobert, mother of Eva Green, claimed her daughter was allegedly sexually harassed by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein on Europe 1 radio in France.

The actress alleges that her daughter was intimidated

"My daughter Eva was a victim of this horrible man... he is tenacious, he insisted over the course of several months, from the moment he arrived in Paris, he would start calling her.

She didn't respond...she was a little bit intimidated, this guy had so much power! The power over all cinema. He stuck so many sticks in her wheels, because he was angry.

So to react strongly, for a young actress, was also to put herself in danger, to be erased from the casting lists.

At the time I was so so totally horrified, scandalised, that I wanted to do something, but my daughter said 'Certainly not! You don't know what he is capable of'.

It's not possible that this guy goes unpunished, this odious person must be prosecuted."

Colin Firth guilt over knowing about Weinstein allegations but not doing anything

Elsewhere, British actor Colin Firth revealed that his co-star in the film Hour Of The Pig Sophie Dix confided in him allegations against film mogul Harvey Weinstein.

The actor says he feels shame that he expressed his sympathy to her but did nothing else.

In a statement to The Guardian newspaper, he said: "She told me she had had a distressing encounter with Harvey Weinstein.

He said: "I don't think she went into all the horrific detail I've read in her interview. But I remember her being profoundly upset by it. To my shame, I merely expressed sympathy.

"I didn't act on what she told me. It was a long time ago and I don't know if she remembers telling me, but the fact that I had that conversation has come back to haunt me in the light of these revelations.

It's the only direct account of this kind of behaviour by Harvey Weinstein that's ever been told to me.

Other women have been hurt since. And those of us who didn't act on our one bit of knowledge - and especially those of us who went on to work with Weinstein - have that on our conscience."

"I admire Sophie's courage. This can't have been easy," he said.

In response to Firth's comments, Dix said: "I am delighted Colin has spoken and I remember him being very supportive at the time.

"It's never easy speaking out but I wanted to help resolve this problem and show that women cannot be treated like this in the workplace."

Firth has previously said he has read the allegations against Weinstein with "a feeling of nausea".
His Oscar-winning film The King's Speech was backed by the disgraced mogul.
