Fuller House bosses have ''given up'' asking Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to make an appearance on the show but said the door is always ''open".

The comedy series originally aired from 1987 to 1995, about three men raising three young girls in San Francisco.

The 31-year-old twins began their acting career at the age of nine months, sharing the role of Michelle Tanner on the show from 1987 to 1995.

Show creator, Jeff Franklin, said he is sick of trying to convince the siblings to appear on the show which is now in its third season.

Speaking to TVLine, he said: ''Personally, I've given up asking them. The door is open, but I'm not going to be calling them anymore to invite them. They just don't seem interested in coming.

''It's been three years of invitations, so they know the door is open. It's up to them to decide if they want to come play or not.''

The Olsen twins won't be getting an invitation to return to Fuller House again

In a interview with Elle magazine in 2012, the twins said that they had no desire to return to acting, and wanted to move behind the lens.

"I don’t have to be a pretty face. I’ve done that, but now it’s important and liberating to be on the other side of the lens. I don’t like to be the centre of attention anymore," said Ashley, who hasn’t appeared on screen since the twins’ 2004 flop New York Minute.

"It doesn’t mean I’m not interested in Hollywood," she said. "I like the way it operates, I like the people who are involved and the sense of possibility. But if I ever get back in, it’s not going to be as an actress."
