ITV soap Emmerdale was the big winner at the TV Choice Awards in London on Monday night, winning in four categories, including Best Soap.

The rural drama also took home the awards for Best Actor (Ryan Hawley, for his role as Robert Sugden); Best Actress (Charlotte Bellamy, who plays Laurel Thomas) and Best Newcomer (Sally Dexter, who plays Faith Dingle) at the Dorchester Hotel.

Broadchurch picked up a troika of awards: Best Drama Series and Best Actor and Actress for stars David Tennant and Olivia Colman respectively. 

In the other categories there were wins for Strictly Come Dancing (Best Talent Show), Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway (Best Entertainment Show), This Morning (Best Daytime Show) and Peter Kay's Car Share (Best Comedy).
