Actor Harry Visinoni has opened up about his character Seb Franklin's struggles in Coronation Street, saying it has been "challenging" to film the upcoming storyline.

Coming up in the ITV soap, Anna Windass (Debbie Rush) is horrified to discover that her adoptive daughter Faye (Ellie Leach) and her boyfriend Seb have run away together. Anna immediately sets about trying to track them down.

Seb, meanwhile, is determined to get home once he realised what Faye has planned. Running away, he is discovered in a layby by Anna and begs her to take him home. Anna is alarmed by the living conditions he and his young twin siblings have been living in.

Visinoni, who has played Seb since October 2016, said Seb is "ashamed and embarrassed" by his living conditions, and doesn't want his girlfriend Faye to know the truth.

"No one knows this secret and he wants to keep it that way", Visinoni said. "Especially taking into consideration his relationship with Anna, she doesn’t like him, it fuels anxiety for him."

The actor explained that Seb's living situation with his younger siblings has put immense pressure on him. "It’s more of a situation where he is treading water, trying to keep on top of it all but it’s definitely a struggle", he said. "The situation could be worse, in fact the situation has been worse before so that is always hanging over him - he can’t really handle it even though he tells himself he can."

Visinoni said he is excited for the audience to see another side of Seb and his story, which might help explain the character's wild behaviour in the past.

"It will be interesting to see what people think about his story because Seb has always been a bit of a delinquent, a bit aggressive without being provoked. I’m looking forward to people seeing why he is the way he is", he said, adding that Seb has "this alpha-male complex" because "he has had to be the man of the house when he shouldn’t have to be".

The young Manchester-born actor added that it has been a big challenge filming this storyline on Corrie, saying: "It has been more challenging because I’ve really thought about it and put time into it, working out where all the emotion is going to come from within myself and understanding where it comes from in Seb."

Will Anna tell anyone what she has discovered about Seb and his family? Find out next week when these scenes air on Coronation Street.

Coronation Street continues on TV3 on Wednesday at 7.30pm.
