Things are coming to a head at Highway 65 as Nashville fans wonder how the show is going to finish off its fifth season.
With just a couple of episodes left in the country music drama's current run on TG4, the battle between Zach Wells and Deacon Claybourne for the late Rayna James' record label is set to reach a climax.
"We’ve been building toward this literally since the beginning of the season, the idea of what happens when you have this threat and the threat is made manifest," showrunner Marshall Herskovitz told EW.
"For us, it was a lot of fun to have it all come together in this [upcoming] final episode. It’s the climax of that story, so the very survival of Highway 65 is at stake and that’s a big deal."
But that's not the only issue that's likely to be resolved by the end of Nashville's fifth season, which has already been full of shocks and surprises - not least the death of Connie Britton's Rayna James.
Fans of the country music drama will be familiar with the recent situation where Juliette Barnes stole a song from under the nose of Maddie Conrad. When Maddie found out, she wasn't best pleased.
"The whole issue of Juliette stealing a song came out already. It’s been made public but it hasn’t been resolved," Herskovitz says. "What’s going to happen as a result of this?"
Dropping a hint, the showrunner added that what happens will be "a little bit of a surprise to our audience and I’m looking forward to their reaction to it."
Nashville continues on Tuesdays on TG4.
