Coronation Street is working on a new kidnap cliffhanger as part of the ITV soap's controversial grooming storyline.
Warning: spoiler alert!
The harrowing storyline has seen teenage character Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) groomed by ex-boyfriend Nathan Curtis (actor Christopher Harper) and raped by Police Constable Neil Clifton (played by Ben Cartwright).
When Curtis was arrested after trying to traffick Bethany, Clifton threatened Bethany and warned her of the consequences for her family if she revealed the truth about him.
Bethany's friend, Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), later secretly recorded a confession from Clifton.
British tabloid The Sun now reports that upcoming episodes of the ITV soap will see Bethany kidnapped as the case against Curtis and Clifton goes to court.
The paper says Bethany will be kidnapped by Curtis' accomplice Mel Maguire, who had previously been groomed by him.
Photos taken during filming on the soap show Mel, played by Sonia Ibrahim, attacking Bethany beside a railway track.
The Sun says Bethany will try to escape but runs in the direction of an oncoming train with Mel chasing her.
