The Mindy Project and Suicide Squad star Ike Barinholtz has broken his neck while filming a stunt for the upcoming film The Pact.
The actor fractured two cervical vertebrae in his neck after falling from a high platform on the set of the film five weeks ago. He has been carefully following his doctor's orders as he recovers.
"We knew something was wrong right away," Barinholtz told US showbiz publication, People. "It was scary and was touch and go for a while.
"Luckily, I've had great doctors who have really helped me with my recovery. I do as they tell me."
Rather conveniently, his neck brace will be incorporated into his story-line as nurse Morgan Tookers on the upcoming final season of Fox's comedy The Mindy Project.
"After the accident, I talked to Mindy Kaling (the show's star and creator])and we agreed that the only option was writing it into the show."
"Luckily, I play a character who could break his neck falling out of his bunk bed and it's completely believable", he joked.
Shooting on the next season is already in full swing, with Barinholtz adding: "I’ve even directed an episode, although I have found it’s hard to command respect while in a neck brace."
