David Bowie's estate has allowed an Irish charity initiative to record and release Heroes, one of the late musician's most iconic tracks.

A one-hundred strong choir led by Irish singer MayKay, formerly of Dublin band Fight Like Apes, have recorded the track, which is on sale now in aid of four of Ireland’s largest children’s charities - Make A Wish, ACT for Meningitis, Temple Street, and the Jack & Jill Foundation.

This is the third year that DIY store Woodie's has embarked on a major campaign to fund raise for their Children's Charity Campaign, Woodie's Heroes.

Woodie’s CEO Declan Ronayne said: "We are once again delighted to be part of the Woodie’s Heroes initiative, raising almost half a million euro in the past two years, which is a testament to the employees and customers of Woodie’s, it wouldn’t be possible without them. It is a true privilege to be involved in raising much needed funds for the four very deserving charities."
