Actress Deborah Watling, who played the role of Doctor Who's assistant Victoria Waterford has passed away at the age of 69.
Back in the 1960s, Watling acted in the series for a year during the tenure of the second Doctor, played by Patrick Troughton,
She had suffered from lung cancer, and was diagnosed with the illness only six weeks ago.
Born in Buckinghamshire in 1948, the daughter of movie star Jack Watling and actress wife Patricia Hicks was determined to follow her parents into acting.
She starred as a child in the ITV series The Invisible Man, before joining the cast of Doctor Who in 1967 at the age of 19. She remained with the show until the following year.
