Coronation Street star Bruno Langley says recent events on the cobbles has made his character Todd Grimshaw "come full circle".

Todd and his partner Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) are set to become guardians to 12-year-old Summer, following the death of Billy's ex, Drew (Tom Godwin), and says viewers will see a darker side to his character as the storyline evolves.

Langley admits he couldn't be prouder of Matilda, who plays Summer on the popular soap, and admits her eulogy is absolutely heart-breaking.

"Todd has come full circle," the 34-year-old actor said.

"He does have his darker side but anyone who hears a little girl stand up and deliver a eulogy about her father who has passed away is bound to be heartbroken.

"For me, watching Matilda do it, I was proud of her as an actress and Todd is proud of Summer so it was the same feelings," he added.

Langley reveals that events are going to get worse before they get better as Summer struggles to come to terms with her new surroundings.

"There is a misunderstanding so things get misconstrued.

"When Summer says that she doesn’t want to live with them it comes out of the blue and it’s very disheartening because Billy and Todd had made up their minds."
