US actress Lindsay Lohan has been keeping a low profile of late but on Monday she announced that she has landed a new role in upcoming British TV comedy Sick Note opposite Harry Potter star Rupert Grint.

The Mean Girls actress will play an as yet unspecified role in the Sky 1 comedy, which also stars Nick Frost.

Posting a picture of herself with Grint and Frost, the 30-year-old said: "Back on set of my new TV show #SickNote."

The series stars Grint as Daniel Glass, a man who is wrongly diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Miami Vice's Don Johnson also appears in Sick Note as Daniel's malicious boss. Lohan did not confirm who she is playing on the new show but UK comedy website Chortle has reported that she will play Katerina West, the daughter of Johnson’s character.

Lohan's fans have said they are delighted to see her making her comeback after years of ups and downs.
One follower said on Instagram: "Brilliant to see you working again. Don't waste that talent."

"Good to see you back in the game. Stay clean and healthy!" urged another.

Another happy fan seemed overcome by the news and tweeted: "IM CRYING YOU LOOK SO GOOD."
