Kanye West is no stranger to drama. From his infamous Taylor Swift stage crash to hailing himself the Steve Jobs of the internet, the rapper just can't seem to say out of the limelight.

Known more for his outrageous comments than his music, the controversial rapper has had his fair share of 'Did he just say that?' moments.

In honour of Kanye turning the big 4-0, we've rounded up his most memorable and mind-boggling comments. Look away now Taylor Swift, Jimmy Kimmel and eh, God.

Sorry in advance Kanye!

5. WHEN KANYE DISCOVERED THE CAPS BUTTON

What do you do when someone presses your buttons? When it comes to Kanye's way of dealing with critics and keyboard warriors, he pushes their buttons right back.

They say silence is golden but when it comes to Yeezy it's all about being the loudest and always having the last word (or at least maximising all 140 characters).

West recently deleted his Twitter account, but he has caused many a tweetstorm with his ranting ways and magnified tweets.

One of the most entertaining  memorable posts was in 2013 when he lashed out at Jimmy Kimmel in an all-caps soliloquy after the TV host poked fun at an interview the rapper did with Zane Lowe.

JIMMY KIMMEL IS OUT OF LINE TO TRY AND SPOOF IN ANY WAY THE FIRST PIECE OF HONEST MEDIA IN YEARS

JIMMY KIMMEL, I DON’T TAKE IT AS A JOKE…. YOU DON’T HAVE SCUM BAGS HOPPING OVER FENCES TRYING TO TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR DAUGHTER

JIMMY KIMMEL PUT YOURSELF IN MY SHOES … OH NO THAT MEANS YOU WOULD HAVE GOTTEN TOO MUCH GOOD PU**Y IN YOUR LIFE…

YOU CAN’T PUT YOURSELF IN MY SHOES. YOUR FACE LOOKS CRAZY… IS THAT FUNNY?… OR IF I HAD A KID SAY IT WOULD IT BE FUNNY???

SHOULD I DO A SPOOF ABOUT YOUR FACE OR YOU FU**ING BEN AFFLECK… #NODISRESPECTTOBENAFFLECK #ALLDISRESPECTTOJIMMYKIMMEL!!!!

I LIKE YOU, YOU KNOW ME, I WENT TO YOUR FAMILY’S WEDDING

Why has no one started a campaign to get Kanye's working on the English Leaving Cert yet?

4. The Apple falls far far from the tree

Now that we've established Kanye is a technology wizard (see point above), it's hardly surprising that the creative genius sees himself in the same league as Steve Jobs, Picasso and Walt Disney.

In yet another of his expletive-ridden rants, this time at a gig in Paris, Kanye shared his views on pop commercialism.

The rapper told the crowd at Paris’ Le Zenith: "There’s no motherf***ing awards or sponsorships or none of that shit that can stop the dedication to bringing y’all that real shit."

"No matter how they try to control you, or the motherf***er next to you tries to peer pressure you, you can do what you motherfucking want. I am Picasso. I’m Walt Disney, I’m Steve Jobs."

3. Forgetting to look at the man in the mirror

The average Joe wishes they didn't work so hard, travelled the world, and spent more time with their loved ones. But Kanye's biggest regret has to be one of the most mind-blowing of them all.

He showed his unique take on modesty when he famously revealed what the biggest regret in his life was not being able to have the outer body experience of watching himself perform live.

"God chose me. He made a path for me," he said on VH1’s Storytellers.

"I am God’s vessel. But my greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live."

2. Kanye causes a storm on TV

During a live TV fundraiser for the victims of 2005's Hurricane Katrina days after the tragic storm, Kanye ditched the lines prepared for him in favour of a minute-plus political tirade.

As co-presenter Mike Myers looked stunned and awkward and stared blankly into the distance. The rapper blasted the media's portrayal of Katrina's black victims while taking aim at then US President George W Bush.

1. I knew you were trouble when you walked in

Kanye is forever causing trouble and drama at award shows, but his 2009 stage invasion during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech created one of the most unforgettable moments in VMA history.

It happened after Swift's victory in the Best Female Video category for You Belong With Me, which beat out Beyoncé's Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)

Just moments after Swift accepted the Moonman trophy and began her acceptance speech, West stormed the stage, taking the microphone from Swift to announce Beyoncé deserved the award. Enter monkey hiding his face emoji here!
