Broadcaster and fashion designer Brendan Courtney has announced the death of his father Frank Courtney, who recently featured in an RTÉ documentary focusing on the lack of support available for families who care for older people.
Brendan made We Need To Talk About Dad to highlight the battle his family faced to provide the best care for Frank after he had a stroke.

It focused particularly on the struggle they had navigating the Fair Deal nursing home support scheme.
The documentary sparked a huge public response and in March, the Minister for Older People Helen McEntee promised that the first public consultation to gather views on a proposed statutory home care scheme would be launched this year.
Frank died on Wednesday morning at Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross.
He is survived by his wife Nuala and children Suzanne, Deboragh, Brendan and Daniel.
