Limerick hip hop trio Rusagano Family have released their first new music since winning this year's Choice Music Prize for best Irish album last March with their 2016 debut Let The Dead Bury The Dead.

The new song, entitled I Know You Know, will be launched at Dublin's D-Light Studios on June 14 where the band will perform and Blindboy Boatclub of fellow Limerick act The Rubberbandits will present an audiovisual talk about mental health issues in Ireland.

"The track is about how we all face various challenges in life, and our inability to speak about these issues. In one sense, it’s about opening up and engaging in conversation." the band says.

"We wanted to do something special around the release, and knew that a strong visual aspect was important. James Kirwan kindly got on board and supplied some artwork," they added.

Rusangano Family, who hail from Togo, Zimbabwe and Co Clare and feature MuRli, God Knows and mynameisjOhn in their line-up, teamed up with director Bob Gallagher to make the video for the new song.

"We reached out to our friend Bob Gallagher and asked if he would work with us on a video. Bob had some exciting ideas and decided to walk from Dublin to Limerick to chat to us about them."

Rusangano Family play the Forbidden Fruit Festival in Dublin on June 5 and also have upcoming dates at the Carlow Arts Festival, the Luminato Festival, Toronto, and the Beatyard Festival in Dun Laoghaire.
