Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy has teased that season two of the hit Netflix show will be darker than its predecessor, saying, "it's going to be so terrifying the Demogorgon will look like a little kitty in comparison."
Season two of the hit show is set to hit screens this Halloween, and show bosses and cast alike have remained tight-lipped on anything but minor details of the show so far.
Speaking on the GoldDerby podcast, producer Shawn Levy teased fans with more details ahead of the upcoming series, as well as what goes on behind the scenes.
"I'm so forbidden to say so very much," Levy explained, adding, "Will Byers is very much at the centre of several intersecting challenges and threats in season 2."
He continued, "And I think overall the kind of forces of evil that are inherent in season 2 make that Demogorgon look quaint in retrospect."
Levy also spoke about how popular the first season was, admitting, "It's been pretty thrilling. I knew the script was amazing, and I knew the show wasn't obvious in any way.
"We tried and set out to make something cool, and the fact that it's received this recognition, and this level of popularity, is icing. It's definitely a lot of icing on the cake."
This isn't the first time we've heard Stranger Things' second season is going to be darker.
Last month, David Harbour revealed that Chief Hopper starts in a "completely different place" in season two, "I am so excited for you all to see this season. It's so fun and dark and complex."
And earlier this month, Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike, revealed, "I think this season will be a lot [darker]. A lot more horror-oriented. I think people are going to like it more than the first season."
