Coronation Street actors Daniel Brocklebank and Rob Mallard have confirmed reports that they're dating with corresponding social media posts.

Rumours were abounding that a romance was sparked between the soap stars when Mallard joined the show last year, and now they have taken to Twitter to tell fans their happy news.

Brocklebank, who plays plays Billy Mayhew on the ITV soap, tweeted on Thursday: "It's true! @Rob_Mallard only came round to put some shelves up & it went from there... #LoveIsInTheAir"

Shortly afterwards, Mallard, who plays Ken Barlow's (Bill Roache) youngest son Daniel Osbourne, took to the social media site to joke that he had bagged the "notorious" Dan Brocklebank.

Brocklebank went on to share a conversation he had with his mum about his new romance.

Last week, the happy couple posed for a selfie as they attended the LGBT Awards.
