The ten major stars of Modern Family have signed-up for season nine and ten of the five-time Emmy-winning comedy having received a huge boost to their already enormous salaries.

According to The Hollywood Reporter there will be a total of 44 episodes made, 22 for each season. Then it could be time to say goodbye to the hit show.

Co-creator and showrunner Steve Levitan said: "I'd like it to go 10 seasons. It seems like a nice, round number. But most importantly, I'd like to end strong."

Season eight of the comedy, which finished filming in February without new deals for the stars, saw the cast making roughly $350,000 per episode as well as a portion of the show's profits.

However the cast are said to have secured significant raises in return for signing on for series nine and ten.

"We are beyond thrilled that we get to spend more time with these characters, these amazing actors, our ridiculously talented writers and our incredible crew — all of whom are like family to us. And the good kind of family, not the kind that argues with you all the time," said Levitan.
