George and Amal Clooney have donated $10,000 (€9,092) to the Californian animal rescue organisation, Camp Cocker Rescue, according to a post on the organisation's Facebook page.

According to AOL, Camp Cocker Rescue revealed that the couple had donated $10,000 to the California organisation. This money was given so that the rescue organisation would be able to look after nine dogs they took in from a backyard breeder.

"Well, you can imagine how blown away we were when we heard that a $10,000 donation was pledged to our doggies," read the post.

"Our generous donors would like to see their donation doubled by all of you, so for the month of May, every dollar you donate will be matched (up until we reach $10,000)."

In October 2015, the Clooneys took in a four-year-old basset hound named Millie, which they discovered at California's San Gabriel Valley Humane Society. Some months later, they adopted a terrier named Nate as a gift for the actor's parents.
