It's a mixed bag on the box as Homeland's superb sixth season comes to an end, while Better Call Saul and Peter Kay's Car Share are back

Pick of the day

Homeland, 9.35pm, RTÉ2

This sixth season has been pretty impressive, especially with Quinn's personal descent into the heart of darkness. Rupert Friend's been excellent in that role.

In this season finale - which caused a lot of controversy Stateside when it was screened over there last Sunday - Dar Adal is revealed to have had Senator Coto kidnapped and handcuffed inside a freezer room.

But while Dar scrambles to get his plan back on track, Saul and Keane deal with some fallout from her interview, while Carrie realises that she and Quinn must act fast.

The Young Offenders, Netflix

If you haven't this yet, etc.

Best friends Conor and Jock are two teenagers from Cork who dress the same, act the same, and even have the same crappy moustaches.

Jock is a notorious bicycle thief who plays a daily game of cat-and-mouse with Garda sergeant Healy, while Conor is the son of a single mother, who works for a fishmonger.

When a drug-trafficking boat capsizes off the coast west of County Cork, leading to the seizure of 61 bales of cocaine, each worth €7 million, word gets out that there is a bale missing, and the lads' lives are about to change.

EastEnders, 7.30pm, RTÉ One & BBC One

Bex decides to go out busking with help from Shakil and even Martin is supportive once she manages to talk him round. Unfortunately, Madison and Alexandra are continuing to make their presence felt and they can't resist taunting Bex.

Meanwhile, Michelle is feeling optimistic after applying for a job, but her mood turns sour when she has a run-in with Bex and Martin.

Later, Sharon is concerned to spot a drunken Michelle at the Queen Vic. She takes Michelle home and tries to talk to her, but ends up storming off when Michelle crosses the line.

Better Call Saul, Netflix

It's season three of the Breaking Bad prequel, and – just like the last two – Netflix are drip-feeding new episodes to fans on a weekly basis rather than in their customary binge-friendly lump.

Better Call Saul’s second season ended with Chuck secretly recording Jimmy’s confession that he had deliberately sabotaged one of his cases, and Mike being warned off about killing Hector by a mysterious messenger.

The former is set to have major repercussions on both Jimmy’s professional and personal relationships with Kim, while the latter will allow Breaking Bad's fast food restaurateur/fearsome drug lord Gus Fring to pre-appear.

Today's Guilty Pleasure

Peter Kay's Car Share, 9.00pm, BBC one

The key to Peter Kay is his ability to relate to ordinary people and their lives and Car Share is an excellent case in point.

After being forced to commute together in a supermaket Car Share scheme, assistant manager John Redmond (Peter Kay) and promotions assistant Kayleigh Kitson (Sian Gibson) now find themselves, reluctantly, having to make the daily commute to work separately.

Since moving in with her sister, Kayleigh is now travelling on her own to work, but will she manage to resist the temptation to call her old Car Share buddy?
