Kendall Jenner is reported to be "devastated" as a result of the negative public reaction to her controversial Pepsi ad.

The supermodel (21) starred in the now-binned promo which was hammered for trivialising the Black Lives Matter movement by recreating iconic police protest imagery to promote a soft drink.

"This is the first controversial campaign she has been involved with," a source told ET Online.

"Even though she had nothing to do with the production and the message of the campaign, she will be blamed for this since she is the face." The source then added: "This is not a career breaker for her."

The insider added that Jenner wasn't the right fit for the campaign, while claiming that its original purpose was a virtuous one.

"The original intent of the commercial was to mirror all the global protests trying to make this world a more equal place for everyone," the source said.

"But they shouldn't have had a celebrity face tied to it if they wanted to try and send a strong message like this."

Pepsi withdrew the advertisement on Wednesday, admitting that they had "missed the mark" with this particular promotional campaign.
