It looks like we could be set for one of the best performances of Cillian Murphy's career in WWII action-thriller Dunkirk, if the first trailer for the Christopher Nolan-directed movie is anything to go by.
The film, which is due in cinemas next July, tells the story of the 'Miracle of Dunkirk' - the against-all-odds evacuation of Allied Forces from the French town's beaches during late May and early June 1940. Filming has taken place in Dunkirk, the UK, Holland and Los Angeles.
Peaky Blinders star Murphy previously worked with director Nolan on his Batman trilogy and Inception. The Cork actor is joined in Dunkirk by his Peaky Blinders co-star Tom Hardy, Rebellion and Love/Hate actor Barry Keoghan and Oscar winner Mark Rylance. The cast also includes Kenneth Branagh, One Direction's Harry Styles, War & Peace's Aneurin Barnard and newcomer Fionn Whitehead.
In the trailer, Murphy's character, a soldier, is rescued by the crew of a small boat - Rylance and Keoghan.
"Where are we going?" asks Murphy, to which Rylance's character replies: "Dunkirk."
"I'm not going back," says a terror-stricken Murphy.
"There's no hiding from this, son," says Rylance. "We have a job to do."
Speaking to RTÉ Entertainment last summer while promoting The BFG, Rylance was full of praise for co-stars Murphy and Keoghan, describing them as "genius actors" and "good craic" on the long days of filming.
"We're all on this little boat together, day in and day out, and we've a lot of waiting around. So it's very enjoyable to have their good humour," he said.

Rylance also joked about gambling with Keoghan. "You shouldn't play dice with Barry. He's very lucky at dice. Don't gamble anything with Barry!" he laughed.
As to what audience could expect from Dunkirk, Rylance said: "It's the complete opposite of the motion capture and CGI in that Chris Nolan is fanatical about filming real things. We've been experiencing extraordinary things on set."
