The Grand Tour has soared into first place as the most pirated show on the planet with millions of people snubbing Amazon Prime subscription to illegally watch the former Top Gear gang's new series.
It was revealed recently that The Grand Tour is three times as popular as the next biggest show on Amazon Prime, attracting 1.95 million viewers for the much-hyped opening episode.
But that figure is dwarfed by the number of illegal downloads, including in the UK, where Amazon Prime is available, unlike here in Ireland, where the service has yet to reach.
The Mail on Sunday has reported that, since The Grand Tour began on November 18, episode one has been illegally downloaded 7.9 million times. These figures come from MUSO, who analyse data of the piracy market.
The second episode of Jeremy Clarkson and co's show has been illegally downloaded 6.4 million times, while episode three has had 4.6 million illegal downloads. Illegal downloads across Britain constitute over 13% of the total.
These figures represent over €3million worth of revenue loss for Amazon Prime just for the opening episode alone.
