Des Bishop ended weeks of speculation when he revealed that he will be taking part in RTÉ’s Dancing with the Stars to Ryan Tubridy on Friday night’s Late Late Show.
The 41-year-old Irish-American comedian is the first of 11 celebrities confirmed to participate in the dance floor extravaganza in the New Year.
"I absolutely cannot wait for January, I can’t think of a better way to spend the next few months - or as along as possible - taking part in the show," Bishop said. "At my age, to learn something completely new such as ballroom dancing is an amazing opportunity."
Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne
Earlier this week, Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne were confirmed as co-hosts of the first season of Dancing with the Stars. Beginning on Sunday January 8, the contestants will pair up with professional dancing partners and hit the floor.
Each pairing will have a different dancing genre to master every week, and they’ll have just seven days to perfect their routine before performing live on TV.
