Oscar winner Russell Crowe won't face charges after he was cleared over an alleged assault on rapper Azaelia Banks at a party in October.
The troubled star had claimed that Crowe had assaulted her at a party in a Beverly Hills hotel and said that he had grabbed her by the neck, spat on her and used racial slurs before having her removed.
The Gladiator actor had denied the allegations and eyewitnesses had backed him up, saying he was simply trying to protect other guests after Banks threatened to cut a woman's throat with broken glass.
That version of events seems to have been vindicated by prosecutors in Los Angeles how have dropped the case. Confirming their decision they said that "Several attendees describe Banks, not Crowe, as the assaultive party".
They also said that Banks had admitted to making insulting statements before the 52-year-old actor threw her out and said that she had no visible injuries when she reported the incident.

The rapper has now taken to Facebook to express her dismay over the decision.
"Seriously heartbroken over this news of my case against Russell Crowe being thrown out," she wrote. "One thing I won't do is let this ruin any parts of me. I've done enough crying in 2016, and 2017 won't be the year I allow the media or anyone else to control my narrative."
The New York rapper has become well known for her celebrity feuds.

Earlier this year she was suspended from Twitter after a stream of abuse against former One Direction singer Zayn Malik.
The controversy began when Banks claimed that Malik's video for the track, Like I Would copied her. She then sent a barrage of abusive tweets to Malik, before turning her attention to other stars including Lady Gaga and Rihanna.
Following her comments the organisers of the Born and Bred festival in London, also cancelled Banks' headline slot.
