Irish band Walking on Cars have been named among the honourees at the upcoming European Border Breakers Awards, which celebrates up-and-coming artists and their success outside their own country.

The awards will be held in the Dutch city of Groningen on January 11, 2017 and the Dingle five-piece will be recognised alongside Alan Walker (Norway), Jaakko Eino Kalevi (Finland), Namika (Denmark), Hinds (Spain), Filous (Austria), Jain (France), Dua Lipa (United Kingdom), Era Istrefi (Albania) and Natalie La Rose (Netherlands).

Each of the winners will feature in the award show, which will be hosted by Jools Holland.

Walking on Cars follow in the footsteps of other Irish musicians such as Hozier and The Script, and other European stars from Adele to Disclosure, John Newman to Mumford and Sons who have previously been honoured with the award.

A Public Choice Award will also be presented on the night, which fans can vote for via the European Border Breaker website. The winner of this prize will be announced live on the night.
