A host of Irish musical talent including Mary Byrne and Ryan O'Shaughnessy have come together to release a cover of Michael Jackson's You Are Not Alone in aid of Pieta House.

Byrne and O'Shaughnessy are joined on the single by the Dublin Gospel Choir, Heroes in Hiding, Taken, Flynn Johnson, Brian Keville, Andrew Mann, Ashlee and Rob Scanlon, Two in Tune, Sean McComish and Ben Lynch.

With one in four people experiencing mental health problems each year in Ireland, the collaboration is aiming to raise awareness of the problem and let people know that they can seek help from the staff in Pieta House.

Speaking about the release of the single, O’Shaughnessy said, "I got involved because I feel it’s important for Irish people to discuss mental health. It’s important to give what you can to help those who need it. That’s what this single is all about."

Pieta House has helped almost 28,000 people rebuild their lives since 2006 and has treated approximately 5,000 people in each of the last three years.

The video for the new single was created and directed by 19-year-old Gavin Coll who said their efforts will have been worthwhile if they can help even one person.

"If the You Are Not Alone single can raise awareness of the services of Pieta House and in doing so, prevent one person from dying by suicide, then all our efforts will have been worthwhile," Coll said.

"Many of those involved in the project have experienced first-hand the pain and suffering of losing a loved one and, unfortunately, the reality is that mental health issues are intensifying.

"We all need to play our part in doing what we can to help each other. We are delighted to have released the single and would encourage everyone to download it."

The single is available to download now across all major platforms including iTunes, Spotify and Amazon.
