Apprentice star freshly tanned but 'disappointed' at exit

Dillon St Paul says he's disappointed to have been fired from The Apprentice

Not even a fresh spray tan can colour Dillon St Paul's disappointment at being fired on last night's episode of The Apprentice after his team sank under the strain of developing an 'underwater' virtual reality game.

Dillon was one of two candidates, along with Sofiane, given their marching orders but he told RTÉ Entertainment that he was "very disappointed at being fired - obviously!"

However he said he was proud to have got so far in the process and has no regrets about taking part.

"It is disappointing to not win, obviously but I did get very far and I'm very proud of that. And also I worked really hard on every single task and Claude Litner acknowledged that on The Apprentice: You're Fired . . . so I did my best. I was completely myself and I'm proud of that, " he said.

Lord Sugar will see you in the virtual boardroom now

Last night saw the two teams pitted against each other to develop and market a virtual reality game.

Dillon's Team Titan went for an underwater theme, but their final concept, along with a very uninspiring brand -  'Magic Shells, fell well short of expectations and failed to excite both industry experts and Lord Sugar.

Dillon admits it all fell very flat saying "the branding was weak, I thought our character was weak and then our pitch was convoluted so it really didn't connect the way the other team's did. So it was kind of a comedy of errors."

Dillon and Sofiane try and drum up excitement for their game

After losing the task and being hauled back into the boardroom by team leader Sofiane, Dillon had to fight his corner but alas his time was up despite leading his team to victory in last week's challenge.

Despite fuming that his departure was down to the fact that was "dealing with a bunch of monkeys on a task", he says he made some lifelong friends on the show.

So who is he backing to win? While he says remaining Irish candidate, Gráinne, has been "a very strong ally" he says "the woman for me to win is Jessica."

Jessica for the win according to Dillon

"Being endearing and wearing your heart on your sleeve are brilliant attributes. It's refreshing and she works really hard on tasks as well".

And as for his determination to "get back to Dublin, get a spray tan and conquer the world"?

Dillon says his plan is to now focus on Digital Publishing and says, "I'm sill a design consultant and I've worked very closely with [publisher] Norah Casey. I will continue to do that."

"And I definitely got that tan. You're working so hard from task to task that you don't even have time to do even the simplest things like get a spray tan. So that's why I mentioned that. That was a little celebratory joke".
