Canadian rap superstar Drake has been named as Spotify's most streamed artist for the second year in a row after he racked up a staggering 4.7 billion streams for his album and chart-topping single One Dance.
One Dance alone was streamed 960 million times, making it Spotify's most streamed song ever. Played consecutively, that would take more than 5,200 years.
His album, Views, was also the most streamed album of the past year despite it being made available only on rival Apple Music for the first two weeks of release. Overall, Drake more than doubled his total of 1.8 billion streams in 2015.
He was followed by fellow Canadian star Justin Bieber with Rihanna coming in third place, making her the most streamed female artist of the past year.
The streaming service said that former One Direction band member, Zayn Malik, was the leading new artist for his debut album.
Classic artists nonetheless dominated many categories. Metallica, who in November released an album after an eight-year break, was the most streamed metal act, while the late Nina Simone and Bob Marley led in the jazz and reggae categories.
David Bowie also became the most listened-to alternative artist, following his death in January.
