Rumours that the 33-year-old popstar was pregnant first began to circulate in September when Cheryl's mother, Joan Callaghan, was pictured buying baby goods.
The Fight For This Love singer and One Direction star first met when Payne appeared as a 14-year-old contestant on The X Factor in 2008 when she was a judge on the show.
Cheryl was previously married to footballer Ashley Cole from 2006 to 2010, parting ways amid allegations he cheated on her.
In 2014 she married French restaurateur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini after three months of dating. The pair were granted a decree nisi last month in their divorce proceedings.
A spokesperson for the singer said: "Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini have today obtained a decree nisi in their divorce proceedings. No further comment will be made and they ask for their privacy to be respected."
It is understood the singer will not be changing her name straight away. Instead she will continue to be known professionally as just 'Cheryl'.
