Michelle Williams has opened up about the loss of Heath Ledger and its lasting impact since the Australian actor died on 22 January 2008 from an accidental intoxication from prescription drugs.
In an interview with Porter magazine, the US actress spoke frankly about how she feels about the couple's daughter, Matilda, growing up without her father.
"In all honesty, for pretty much everything else, I feel like I'm a believer in not fighting circumstances, accepting where you are and where you've been," she said.
"In pretty much all senses but one, I would be able to go totally down that line of thinking were it not for Matilda not having her dad.
"You know, that's just something that doesn't . . . I mean, it just won't ever be right."
Williams and Ledger were together for three years after meeting in 2004 on the set of the film Brokeback Mountain. The couple had Matilda, who is now 11, before splitting-up two years later.
