Singer Mariah Carey was quizzed about her split with fiancé James Packer on the latest episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show in what at times was a very awkward encounter.
The 46-year-old Grammy winner is currently plugging her new E! Reality series Mariah’s World, in which she reportedly tries on wedding dresses and Packer, the billionaire Australian casino owner, allegedly makes an appearance.
The pair got engaged in New York in January after a whirlwind six-month romance.
Asked how she was doing mentally, Carey was cautious saying "I think I’m doing well. How are you doing?” Everything happens for a reason…things are the way they are."
Despite appearing uncomfortable with the topic DeGeneres continued to press Carey about the split with her fiancé.
The singer admitted that "Now it’s a whole friggin’ thing … I think I’m doing well … Everything happens for a reason. Things are the way they are."

DeGeneres then enquired if Packer had asked to be left out of Mariah’s World.
"Allegedly," Carey sighed. "It’s kind of difficult to talk about it at the moment. So I’m just going to compliment you on these decorations once again because they are fabulous, and I am here, among them."
