Laura Whitmore has said she is remembering the good times after her elimination from Strictly Come Dancing and that losing out in the weekend's dance-off is "not a funeral".

The presenter and her professional partner Giovanni Pernice, dancing the samba, lost out to broadcaster Ore Oduba and his partner Joanne Clifton, who were dancing the salsa, in the weekend dance-off on BBC One. All the judges voted to save Oduba and Clifton.

Speaking to Zoe Ball on spin-off show It Takes Two on BBC Two on Monday, Whitmore said: "At the time it's so emotional and then you think, 'It's not a funeral; I will see these people again'. It is sad because I think we had a lot more to give - I'm not going to start [crying]!"

"Everyone's a great dancer and that's why I probably don't feel so upset," she continued.

When asked who she was backing to win the series, Whitmore replied: "That's impossible, really, to answer - everyone is so good. Even from week one [I thought] 'Why did I go on this year? Everyone is so good!' And I made some friends I didn't expect to make."

Whitmore said it was very difficult to be in the dance-off against Oduba because they had hit it off from the very first day the contestants were brought together.

"If he wins, technically I could say we could have been second!" she laughed.

The remaining couples will battle it out when Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday at 6.55pm. The results show can be seen on Sunday at 7.15pm.
