Garth Brooks was named Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards (CMAs) in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday night, the fifth time he has received the honour.
Brooks closed out the show by accepting the big award from fellow superstar Taylor Swift. He described the win as "very, very sweet", having previously won the award in 1991, 1992, 1997 and 1998.

"We are so damned lucky to be part of this thing called country music," he told the audience as he tipped his hat to them.
Brooks was also one of the performers on the night, singing a duet with wife Trisha Yearwood, but it was Beyoncé that stole the show as she teamed up with the Dixie Chicks on Daddy Lessons.
In the other categories, Carrie Underwood was named Female Vocalist of the Year, while there were two wins for songwriter-turned-solo artist Chris Stapleton, Male Vocalist and Music Video of the Year for Fire Away.
The Album of the Year award went to Eric Church for Mr Misunderstood, with Lori McKenna's Humble and Kind named Best Song and Thomas Rhett's Die a Happy Man winning Best Single.
