Justin Bieber has penned a letter to his fans explaining why he stormed off stage during a concert earlier this month.

The 22-year-old Sorry hitmaker was performing to a sold-out crowd at the Manchester Arena in the UK on October 23 as part of his Purpose World Tour when he hit out at the audience for making too much noise.

Bieber tried to talk to the crowd in between songs, but they began booing, leading him to drop his microphone and storm off stage. He was reportedly missing for around two minutes before he returned to plead with the crowd to stop screaming.

After his fans continued to scream, the 22-year-old singer addressed them, saying: "I’m just going to quit the talking alright.

"I’m not going to talk the rest of the night," he added. "We’re just going to do the music. Obviously Manchester just can’t handle it so let’s do the music."

Now the Canadian star has attempted to explain his behaviour in an open letter to his fans posted on social media.

"There's going to be times where I say the wrong thing, because I'm human... There's times when I get upset... times when I get angry, there's times when I'm going to be frustrated.

"But I'm always going to be myself on this stage," Justin said, refuting claims he had stormed off stage because he was angry at his fans.

"All I was simply doing was wanting people to listen; to kind of hear me out a little bit," his note reads. "Certain cities aren't going to want to hear me out, and you know, sometimes it's my job to just say, 'Hey, I'm not going to try to force anything.'"

Bieber plays Dublin's 3 Arena tonight. He concludes the European leg of his tour in London at the end of November.
