Steven Avery's lawyers Dean Strang and Jerry Buting, who gained a cult following after the first series of Making a Murderer, may appear in new episodes of the show.

Fans welcomed the news that directors Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos are filming new episodes of the Netflix documentary series, which continues Steven Avery's highly controversial case with his new legal representation as they challenge his conviction.

Now Buting, who is currently is touring A Conversation on Justice with Strang, confirmed that they have already filmed an interview with the documentary makers.

He said: "We have already been interviewed by them, they did approach us, but whether we end up being in it, that's their decision.

"It will probably bend somewhat towards what new developments there might be. If there are new court appearances, that might become such a focus that whatever they talked to us about is not necessary."

Stephen Avery's story to be continued with new episodes of Making a Murderer

Making a Murderer focused on the murder of freelance photographer Teresa Halbach and the convictions of Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey.

Dassey's conviction was overturned since the show aired after a federal court ruled that his rights had been violated during his confession in 2006.

Avery is currently serving a life sentence for Halbach's murder, whose remains were found close to Avery's home in 2005.
