Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire and his wife Jennifer Meyer have announced that they are separating after nine years of marriage.
The Hollywood actor and producer and Meyer, a jewellery designer, said in a joint statement released to People magazine: "After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple.
"As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship."
The couple are parents to 9-year-old daughter Ruby and 7-year-old son Otis.
Maguire, 41, and Meyer, 39, met in 2003 and tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Hawaii four years later.
The actor is best known for playing Spider-Man in Sam Raimi's superhero trilogy in the 2000's.
