A confrontation between a knife-wielding intruder and the supermodel's security guard resulted in the guard being stabbed in the eye at Kerr's Malibu home, at midday yesterday, Friday 14.. The intruder, who is believed to be homeless, was shot in the head.
A neighbour and some workmen witnessed the fight from an adjoining property and took immediate action. One of the men climbed Kerr’s front fence to assist the injured security guard.
“The man, after he was shot, still held the knife and was going after the security man so my guy kicked the knife out of the perpetrator’s hands,” the neighbour told Los Angeles TV station CBS2.
Kerr and her five-year-old son Flynn were not home at the time.
The security guard is said to be in a stable condition in hospital while the intruder was listed as 'critical' with non-life threatening injuries.
33-year old Kerr purchased the four-bedroom 1960s home for $2.15 million following her divorce from Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom. The British actor is currently in a relationship with pop star Katy Perry and has a home in Malibu so that he and his former wife can raise Flynn together.
Kerr recently became engaged to 26-year-old Snapchat billionaire Evan Spiegel, and has tended to stay at his Brentwood mansion in recent months. However, she has declared her passion for her Malibu abode, which has stunning views on the Pacific Ocean.
