The second contestant to receive their marching orders on BBC One's The Apprentice has said that Alan Sugar made the "right decision" in firing them.

Hair and beauty salon owner Natalie Hughes was eliminated from the show because of her performance in a task to create an ad campaign for jeans.

In a surprise turn of events, an angry Sugar decided that neither the women's team, Nebular; nor the men's team, Titan, had won the challenge, describing both campaigns as "totally, absolutely useless".

"Not one of you geniuses came through and ran this thing properly," he said.

After grilling members of both teams, Sugar decided that he could not see Hughes as his future business partner.

"Natalie, you've been a bit quiet, you've not been pushing yourself forward," he said. "It is regretful that this is only the second week but Natalie, you're fired."

Natalie Hughes (centre) said she was surprised how "quiet and unconfident" she appeared on the show

Speaking about her exit from the show, Hughes said: "I think it was the right decision; I think he always makes the right decision... It's his show, his rules; whatever he says goes."

While Hughes felt her team "should have won" the challenge because they completed every part of the task, she said taking part in The Apprentice "wasn't for me at all".

Meanwhile viewers have been having great mirth at the contestant's inability to pronounce Gráinne McCoy's name.

The 31-year-old makeup studio owner from Newry seems have caused her fellow English contestants untold difficulty in getting to grips with her lovely name with at least a few 'Granyas' being thrown around.

Mind you she seems to be taking it all in her stride....
