After months of media speculation singer Janet Jackson has confirmed that she is pregnant with her first child at the age of 50.

In April, the star announced that she was delaying her Unbreakable tour because she and her husband, businessman Wissam Al Mana, were "planning our family". The popstar was scheduled to play Dublin's 3Arena on April 2.

The singer had posted a video on her Twitter account to announce the news saying that there had been a "sudden change" to the second leg of her tour.

She told her fans that she had to "rest up - doctor's orders", but did not specify if she was expecting a child.

Since then Jackson has kept a low profile though she was recently spotted shopping at a baby furniture store in London.

She has now confirmed news of her pregnancy, telling US publication People: "We thank God for our blessing." She also showed off her baby bump in a picture for the magazine.

Jackson and Al Mana wed in a secret ceremony in 2012, but didn't confirm the news until early 2013. This is the singer’s third marriage.
