Drake has announced he will be bringing his Boy Meets World tour to Dublin early next year.

The 29-year-old Canadian artist, who last visited Ireland in 2014, will play the 3Arena on February 19, 2017.

The tour opens on January 21 in Amsterdam for two nights at the Ziggo Dome. It will then move on to the UK for a whopping six nights at The O2 followed by several dates across Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and France.

Drake recently had to postpone tour dates in America due to an ankle injury. Last week he posted an apology to fans in three U.S. cities where he cancelled a string of gigs.

"We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night,' he wrote on his blog.

"I hate to be told I can't do something," he said. "But under doctor's orders to allow me time to recuperate, I am being forced to postpone the intense three shows in a row in cities which have only ever shown me unconditional support."

"I am crushed to even be typing this announcement because I feel like I am letting my fans in these cities down. I only want to give you the best show you deserve, I promise - I will make it up to you." The rapper ended his note by promising "new music and a stronger ankle."

Earlier this year, Drake's tour bus was hit by a thief who made off with $3 million in jewellery as the singer was performing onstage in Phoenix, Arizona.

Drake released his fourth album, Views, earlier this year. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in the US, selling 852,000 copies in its first week of release.
