Author Jilly Cooper has revealed that she shared an illicit kiss with Sean Connery back in the 1960s at a time when they were both married.

Speaking on Friday night's Late Late Show, the 79-year-old writer of bonkbuster novels said, "I was very married. Sean was very married. Everybody was very married. It sounds awful but they were great friends of ours.

"Anyway, Sean and his wife came to dinner with lots of other people and . . . sounds an awful story, I don't mean to sneak but I was quite busy cooking, I'm not a very good cook, but I was busy running around and I went out to get the pudding and Sean followed me.

"And he just kissed me, we kissed each other. It was heaven. A proper kiss, yes. I was so ashamed but it was the times we lived in. But he was so sweet. Nothing more happened ever but I loved him very much. i loved his wife too."

"It was a lovely kiss. God, he was a beauty, wasn't he? It's like being wolf whistled at 79 but I was much younger then. It was just very nice, that was all."

Cooper, who is known for her novels set in the world of horse riding, has just published her latest novel Mount!
