Laura Whitmore has denied claims that she is embroiled in an "explosive" row with a former Strictly Come Dancing contestant.

The 31-year-old Bray native was rumoured to have fallen out with Georgia May Foote - who was a contestant on last year's show - over professional dancer Giovanni Pernice.

Foote, who called off her engagement to Giovanni in August after almost a year together,  reportedly contacted the MTV presenter to discuss what she perceived to be a 'blossoming relationship' with her ex-partner. Shortly after, the 25-year-old former Coronation Street actress un-followed Whitmore on Twitter.

The rumours about Whitmore and Giovanni's romance began to heat up after the pair where spotted heading to the premiere of West End show The Last Tango earlier in the week.

Now the Irish presenter has danced off the rumours by setting the record straight on Twitter, posting: "So when did we have this explosive row @georgiafoote Hope your show is going well lovely, been ages! xx"

Foote didn't take long to reply, posting: "@thewhitmore yes good thanks! See u soon," followed by a kiss emoji.

Foote and Pernice began dating after being paired together on last year's Strictly but announced that they were parting ways in August.

Breaking the news of their split in August, Foote said, "It is with great sadness we have decided to split up. There is nobody else involved.

"Although it was not an easy decision to make, sometimes you realise that it is better to be friends and this is one of those times.

Pernice and Foote broke off their engagement in August after eight months together

"We both have very busy work schedules for the rest of the year so we are both going to focus on our upcoming work projects and we wish each other well for the future."

Whitmore and 26-year-old Pernice are set to dance the waltz on this Saturday's Strictly Come Dancing. The couple will dance to Alicia Keys' If I Ain't Got You on Saturday's show, which begins at 6.20pm.

In their dancefloor debut last Friday night they scored 25 out of a possible 40 from the judges for their cha cha.

They are one of four couples dancing waltzes this weekend, with the first dance-off and elimination from the new series airing on BBC One on Sunday evening.
