Irish actress and comedian Aisling Bea said he "had a ball" working on the new series of the crime thriller The Fall which returns to TV screens in a few weeks time.
“Northern Irish people tend to have this sharp, dark sense of humour. Everyone, including myself, took the work very seriously but no one took themselves too seriously", she told The Observer.
"I also felt lucky to be there as Allan Cubbitt (writer and director) took a chance casting me because of how much comedy I have done the last few years. I really wanted to do a good job for him as much as myself."
She also praised Jamie Dornan who is reprises his role as creepy family man and serial killer Paul Spector in the series, saying that "he’s so sweet. He’s a big comedy fan. He’s a wonderful guy and has no airs or graces."
32-year-old Bea hails from County Kildare, but lives these days in Islington in London. A well known figure on the comedy circuit here in Ireland she has starred in The Savage Eye and Trivia on RTÉ along with sitcoms Dead Boss and Trollied while in 2012 she won the So You Think You’re Funny award at the Edinburgh festival.
Despite her success here in Ireland, she says London is now home.
“The Irish community here is strong and vibrant and we are like a pack of mushrooms all sprouting up in the same areas. Would I go back? I don’t know. Most of my world is in London and I feel like this is where I went mad and ended up finding myself. My sister is here. And my mother is always on Facebook.”

In terms of fellow practicioners in the art of making us laugh, she adores Billy Connolly. “I went to see Billy Connolly do two hours, with no break, at the Apollo, with Parkinson’s disease, during the winter, and it was one of the most important gigs I have seen in my life. “
In this third series of The Fall, Gillian Anderson is also back as Detective Superintendent Gibson as the series reaches its terrifying conclusion.

At the end of season two, Spector had been shot by Jimmy Tyler (Brian Milligan), but it looks like he must be alive and well for the third outing.
Other new cast members include Krister Henriksson (Wallander), Aidan McArdle (Mr Selfridge), Ruth Bradley (Humans), and Richard Coyle (Crossbones).
