Celebrity Operation Transformation leader Gerald Kean has revealed that he has lost 6lbs in the second weigh-in of the show, doubling his target of 3lbs.

Speaking on The Ray D'Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1, the celeb lawyer spoke about the difference he feels three weeks into his new diet and exercise programme.

"I ran down the steps coming into the studio, I ran from the carpark," he said. "I skipped in the corridor. There's a new dimension to my life. It's great. I'm loading the washing machine and everything myself!"

The solicitor dropped 17lbs in the first week of the programme, a whopping weight loss which was met with some consternation from the experts, particularly Karl Henry who felt that Kean was over exercising and going above and beyond the OT plan.

This week, however, his weight loss was praised by the experts, and Kean said that it has made a "phenomenal change" to his life so far. The solicitor, who has type 2 diabetes, has drastically reduced his intake of insulin due to his lifestyle overhaul.

He urged those with type 2 diabetes to "just watch this programme and make up your mind to do it."

Speaking to D'Arcy, Kean also admitted that filming the series is the most exposed he has ever felt.

"The camera is with you all the time, from 6 o'clock in the morning until you get home at midnight." he said.

What he misses most about his previous lifestyle is "meeting up with the lads after work and having a cigar and a few glasses of wine and a good chat." However, he added that he needed "to do something and I needed to do it quick."

The weight loss of the other four leaders will be revealed during episode two of Celebrity Operation Transformation on Wednesday night on RTÉ One.

During the next episode, TV presenter Elaine Crowley faces a daunting challenge - cooking dinner for 10 people.

The hoist of TV3 show Midday returns to her home village of New Twopothouse in Cork to see the healthy eating programme at Baltydaniel National School, where her late father was the principal.

While at home, Crowley is roped in to cook one of the Operation Transformation recipes for her family, a prospect which fills her with dread.

Her mother's only hope is that she "won't be poisoned".
