Fresh from the success at the Creative Arts Emmys, the directors of Making a Murderer have said that "the story is clearly not over" with regards to one of the documentary series' subjects, Brendan Dassey.
Last Friday, the US state of Wisconsin filed notice to appeal the August overturning of Dassey's murder conviction.

Dassey was convicted, along with his uncle Steven Avery, of the 2005 murder of freelance photographer Teresa Halbach. In 2007, Dassey was sentenced to life in prison with no parole for 41 years.
Avery, the central subject in Making a Murderer, is also challenging his own life sentence., so it was inevitable that a second season of the hit Netflix series would be commissioned.
At last weekend's Emmys where the documentary won four awards - Outstanding Documentary, Directing, Writing and Editing - directors Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi were more interested in discussing the work that lies ahead than celebrating the Netflix programme's success.
"As many of you know, Brendan Dassey's conviction was overturned, and just last Friday, Wisconsin filed notice of appeal," said Demos.

"This is just part of the process. This is justice at work and we will continue to document that. It's a very trying time for all the families involved on both sides to continue to have this unresolved and ongoing, but that's sort of how justice works, so we'll continue to follow it."
When asked about the new episodes of the series, Ricciardi replied: "Our plans for additional episodes, the story is clearly not over. Things are happening and we're following those events as they unfold. As you follow things as they're unfolding, you can't predict the future… but that's part of the process."
While viewers here wait for news of when the new episodes will be made available, they will have a chance to hear more about the case when Avery's previous defence lawyers Dean Strang and Jerry Buting return to Ireland later this month.
The pair are holding a number of public talks around the country on failures in the US criminal justice system.
