Laura Whitmore is being put through the grinder to get her ready for the upcoming live shows on BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing.

Her partner Giovanni Pernice, who she calls her "Italian Joe Swash", is working the Bray native very hard and won't allow her to stop until she's learned her routine.

"I thought it would be easier," she admitted to the Daily Star. "But Giovanni was like, 'We can't have any breaks, let's work hard'. He's quite strict.

"I wanted to take a lunch break but he said until I got the steps right I couldn't have one," she added. "It's been really tough - we've not even had coffee breaks. Not until I know the routine fully."

The TV presenter also revealed that she's had advice from former Strictly winner and close friend Caroline Flack. "Caroline has been brilliant, and Pixie Lott has too," she says.

"Loads of people have been on Strictly before and what everyone says is, 'Work your ass off'." So she is doing just that.

But despite all her hard work, Laura Whitmore does have one major fear – and it comes in the imposing shape of Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood.

"I started panicking when I saw Craig for the first time," she confessed. "I just want to do well but I think he'll be feisty."

BBC One airs it first live Strictly Come Dancing show on Friday, September 23.
