Comedian Katherine Lynch puts her best foot forward in the first episode of Celebrity Operation Transformation tonight by donning a pair of red heels for a swimming session with her fellow leaders.
The comedy star wore a pair of red stilettos to complement her red bathing suit as she took on an aerobic challenge at the DCU swimming pool in Dublin, alongside Brenda Donohue, Gerald Kean and Karl Spain.
Lynch explained that she needed the confidence boost the sky-high heels gave her. "It was week one and I still needed a tiny bit of costume just to get me through the fear of getting into a pool in my togs in front of the nation," she said.
"I wore them because I'm a punk and I bloody well am not going to do what I am told! So I wore the high heels so there was a little bit of defiance, a little bit of Katherine Lynch, a little bit of comedy, a little bit of glam! Otherwise I thought the camera was just going to have pictures of my cellulite bum."

Rather admirably, the comedian managed to keep her high heels on under water for the duration of the 30-minute session.
"I kept them on very tight and a lovely suction happened when I got into the water. I went, 'Oh that's great, they are going to have to ply them off with a pliers'," she said.
"Actually, I was able to do the walking and everything underneath the water pretty good in the high heels. I think it gave me a little bit more of a stride."
Lynch dropped eight-and-a-half pounds during her first two weeks on Celebrity Operation Transformation.
She joked to Ray D'Arcy on RTÉ Radio 1: "My God, I lost a small baby. A big baby, actually.
"It was sticking to the plan. It was having your breakfast in the morning. It's about old-fashioned eating. There's a small breakfast in the morning of an egg and a slice of toast. Then you have a salad for your lunch and a dinner in the evening of a meat and two veg. It's kind of old-fashioned eating that we've forgotten about. So that's what I've learned from it: we've learned to eat more and it's wrong."

Meanwhile solicitor, Gerald Kean has revealed that there was no hesitation involved in his decision to take part in Celebrity Operation Transformation. He told RTÉ Entertainment that despite having to cut out his beloved cigars and wine, he's noticed a huge transformation and says his diabetes is now much more manageable.
