Lisa Cannon has said she was looking for a new challenge "for quite a while" following the news that she has been let go from her presenting position on TV3's fashion and entertainment show Xpose.
Earlier this week, the station announced that presenters Cannon, Aisling O'Loughlin and Peter O'Riordan would be departing the entertainment programme, and that its time slot would be scaled back from 60 to 30 minutes.
Cannon, who has worked on Xpose since its inception in 2007, will be taking up hosting duties on Saturday:AM and Sunday:AM on TV3 when host Anna Daly goes on maternity leave.
"It's just an exciting new horizon with so many different facets to it, and I've actually been wanting a change for a quite a while, so it's come at a great time for me," Cannon told RTÉ Entertainment.
"I mean, I've been with Xpose for 10 years, and I've learned so much and had so much joy over 10 years and I think now, it's time not to be pigeon-holed into entertainment, to kind of change my skill set up a little bit and broaden my horizons, and find challenges with presenting," she said.
"Now I'm going to be doing cookery, there's dog slots with Dogs Trust, we've politics on the show, you know, I definitely need to get up to speed on a lot of things."
One Xpose presenter making their return to the line-up is Karen Koster, who has been away on maternity leave, and is excited to get stuck back into work.
"I'm so excited to be back, I've been in baby-land for basically two years on the trot, I've been sort of in a vacuum, so I'm excited to get back and get stuck into a job that I love and that I'm passionate about," Koster told RTÉ Entertainment.
"I mean, staying at home with two little men is very, very difficult, it's wonderful but as stay at home moms know, that is the hardest thing you can ever do. So to be able to come back to this, it's been really nice."
